EA bosses ‘should all just resign’ over failure to protect rivers, says campaigner

The Environment Agency (EA) leadership team has failed in its remit to protect rivers and “if they had any morality or honour,” would “all just resign”, according to environmental campaigner and musician Feargal Sharkey.

Sharkey, a keen fly fisher and chair of the Amwell Magna fishery in Hertfordshire, is campaigning for the protection of chalk streams, having seen first hand what he describes as the “devastation” wrought by over abstraction and drought.

Speaking to ENDS, Sharkey said more than half of the River Ver has disappeared, along with long stretches of other globally rare chalk streams across the Chilterns.
