Environmental permitting: The pitfalls to avoid

Environmental permits were breached more than 12,000 times in England in 2017, with the most common reason for non-compliance related to shortcomings in monitoring and record reporting

Earlier this year, the Environment Agency (EA) published a vast spreadsheet containing details of the more than 12,000 environmental permit breaches that were recorded in 2017. Making sense of the data was a little involved, but ENDS persevered and can now reveal which types of breaches occurred with the greatest frequency, among other insights (see infographic).
