DEFRA sets out guidance to ‘revolutionise’ local government climate resilience

The government has published guidance aimed at boosting climate change resilience and “revolutionising” the way local authorities can manage and plan for climate change risk.

The guidance, published last week, was commissioned by DEFRA and developed by the Association of Directors of Environment, Economy, Planning & Transport (ADEPT) and the Local Adaptation Advisory Panel (LAAP),

It also received input from the Local Government Association, Core Cities, and the NHS England Sustainable Development Unit.

The guidance outlines a practical range of adaptation measures that can be taken and implemented by local authorities into corporate plans, policies and performance monitoring systems.
