Brexit remains ‘principal risk’ for water firm

The lack of clarity surrounding Brexit remains a principal risk for Thames Water, with the availability of chemicals, parts and people a major concern, according to its annual report.

In the document, published on Friday, the water firm said preparations for Brexit and a no-deal exit scenario present “significant uncertainties across our business and is further complicated by the lack of clarity over the type of Brexit anticipated”.

Following cross-industry, regulatory and governmental discussions, Thames Water said it reviewed its systems “against the potential for consequences in our operations and support functions if steps aren’t taken to mitigate effects on our ability to supply services to our customers and stakeholders”.
