EA pay dispute: staff join 'work-to-rule' campaign

Prospect members working for the Environment Agency (EA) have joined Unison staff in refusing to carry out out-of-hours incident response work after the agency’s 2018 pay offer was rejected by its members.

Prospect said its EA staff had rejected a deal that amounted to a 1.3% pay rise “imposed by management” in December 2018 and had “endured years of low pay increases”.

In a statement the EA disputed the figure. It claims that pay has increased between 1.4% and 1.6% on average and said it was “committed to giving our staff the best deal possible within the Civil Service Pay Guidance, as set by the Treasury”.
