Environmental consultancy WYG acquired by US firm

One of the UK's largest environmental consultancies has been taken over by a US consulting and engineering service provider in a £43m deal.

WYG, which employs 1,600 staff primarily in the UK and Europe, announced last week that Californian engineering services firm Tetra Tech had completed its acquisition. 

WYG provides consulting and engineering solutions for projects across areas including planning, water and environment, transport, infrastructure, the built environment, asset management, program management, and international development.

Through its environmental planning division, WYG provides a number of waste services to local authorities and private companies, including permitting, facilities engineering, waste management and allied local authority street maintenance and waste planning.
