Government lacks ‘joined up’ approach to climate change, says top advisor

The chair of the government’s climate advisory group has called for a coherent approach to climate change adaptation and mitigation across all departments.

Appearing before the House of Commons’ Environmental Audit Committee, Lord Deben, chair of the Committee on Climate Change, said there is currently no “proper policy” to address the problem. 

“The government thinks of it as something that BEIS or DEFRA deal with,” he said. “It’s very difficult to get departments to understand their own responsibility.
