BEIS committee presses Leadsom on net-zero

A cross-party group of MPs has written to the new energy secretary Andrea Leadsom urging her to “press for action” on policies that will enable the UK to meet its 2050 net-zero carbon emission target.

The Business, Energy and Industrial?Strategy (BEIS) Committee?wrote to Leadsom on Friday, two days after she was appointed head of BEIS as part of Boris Johnson’s sweeping cabinet reshuffle.

The committee called on Leadsom to prioritise policies on electric vehicles, carbon capture, and energy efficiency. It also called for stronger collaboration between BEIS and theTreasury.
