REACH: 60 chemicals manufacturers commit to re-evaluating safety data

Close to 60 chemical producers and importers have committed to re-evaluating the safety data in their REACH registration dossiers, according to Cefic, the European chemical industry council.

Earlier this year, it was found that chemical producers and importers were failing to provide vital chemical safety data which was undermining REACH’s ‘no data, no market’ principle. The German environment agency found that around a third of REACH registrations could be non-compliant as toxicity data was absent for an array of heavily-used chemicals, many of them registered by major companies.
