Michael Gove sounds warning over route of aviation fuel pipeline

Former environment secretary Michael Gove has warned that plans to replace 90km of an aviation fuel pipeline running between Southampton and west London could have 'far-reaching consequences' for the environment in part of his Surrey constituency.

In March, Esso announced the final route of the Southampton to London Pipeline Project (SLP). The scheme - which is being determined via the fast-track Planning Act 2008 regime for nationally significant infrastructure projects - is intended to replace 90km of the firm's 105km aviation fuel pipeline that runs from its Fawley Refinery near Southampton to its West London Terminal storage facility near Hounslow.
