New waste fine - total payout £7,500

Ciaran Corey pleaded guilty to a series of waste offences in 2010 but never returned for sentencing. Running a skip hire business, he had deposited around 274 tonnes of “non-inert, non-hazardous controlled waste” at a site in Belfast without appropriate permission.

Among the waste was asbestos piping and waste electrical goods.

A warrant for his arrest was issued in May. He was handed a £7,500 fine with a five-month jail sentence, suspended for two years, on 20 August.
