DEFRA to announce waste and recycling minister ‘imminently’

DEFRA has said it will announce which minister will oversee waste and recycling policy “any day now”, more than a month after prime minister Boris Johnson’s reshuffle.

Thérèse Coffey and George Eustice were named as ministers of state at DEFRA at the end of July after Theresa Villiers was appointed as environment secretary. However, DEFRA has not confirmed the official details of Coffey and Eustice’s roles.

The ministerial team was joined in July by junior minister Zac Goldsmith, in a split role with the Department for International Development covering animal welfare and international forestry. Lord Gardiner of Kimble remained as the DEFRA representative in the House of Lords.
