No-deal Brexit: Half of UK’s REACH registrants unprepared, EU warns

Just under half of the British companies that have registered chemicals under the EU’s REACH regime are yet to transfer those registrations to a company based within the EU27 in preparation for Brexit, according to the European Commission.

In a note on no-deal preparations published this morning, the Commission says that as of mid-August only 52% of the UK’s REACH registrants have transferred their chemicals registrations to the EU27.

In order to continue exporting chemicals to the EU after Brexit, UK-based companies have to register their products registered under REACH through a subsidiary or partner based in a remaining EU member state.
