Planning Inspectorate publishes new EIA advice for major infrastructure

The Planning Inspectorate has published new advice for consultants seeking to measure the cumulative effects of a major infrastructure development when carrying out an environmental impact assessment (EIA).

The purpose of an EIA is to determine the potential environmental, social, and health effects of a proposed development, as required under the EU’s EIA Directive 2014.

The updated advice, published at the end of August, takes into account changes brought about by the introduction of the Infrastructure Planning (Environmental Impact Assessment) Regulations 2017.
