Environment minister Coffey exits DEFRA to replace Rudd at DWP

Boris Johnson has appointed Therese Coffey to replace Amber Rudd as work and pensions secretary after Rudd announced that she was quitting the cabinet and the Tory party.

Coffey, the MP for Suffolk Coastal, has been environment minister since 2016.

Her exit from DEFRA follows a reshuffle in which Theresa Villiers replaced Michael Gove as environment secretary.
