Planning minister greenlights giant solar farm against planning inspector recommendations

The Welsh planning minister has approved plans for a huge solar farm in Blaenau Gwent because its "significant" renewable energy benefits outweighed its impacts on the landscape, against planning inspector advice.

The 30MW Welsh solar farm in Tredegar was signed off by the housing and local government minister Julie James at the end of July, under the The Developments of National Significance (Specified Criteria and Prescribed Secondary Consents) (Wales) Regulations 2016 and the Town and Country Planning Act 1990.
