Boris Johnson signals new waste bill is in the works

Prime minister Boris Johnson has indicated that the government intends to introduce new legislation governing plastics and the export of waste when it puts forward its agenda in the next Queen’s Speech.

His comments came during an interview on Thursday in which he defended his decision to prorogue parliament for the longest period in decades in advance of starting the new legislative session. 

“We’re going to need bills on education, on health, on housing, on technology, on our vision for investing in science, our space programme - all the things we want to do - on environment, on the export of waste overseas, on plastics,” Johnson said.
