MAFF studies highlight pesticide threat to drinking water

Two studies sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAFF) have shown that concentrations of agricultural pesticides in streams draining arable areas are regularly far above EC drinking water limits. Levels of the herbicides atrazine and simazine also occasionally appear to exceed limits proposed by the Department of the Environment to protect aquatic life.
