A growing number of local authorities in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland have declared climate emergencies.

According to website, more than half of the UK's principal authorities (county, unitary and district councils and metropolitan and London boroughs) have made climate emergency declarations, making it one of the fastest growing environmental movements in recent history.

The interactive map below, based on data from, includes details of the unitary, metropolitan, district and borough councils that have so far declared climate emergencies. Details of county councils are listed below the map.
