Environmental managers declare climate emergency

The Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) has declared a "climate emergency" in line with declarations made by parliament, local authorities and some businesses.

In May, the UK parliament became the first in the world to declare a climate emergency, although a formal definition of what an emergency constitutes was not drafted.

IEMA – the professional body for environmental professionals – plans to see its own emissions carbon neutral by 2020 and has pledged to work with its members to support them in tackling climate change.
