Infographic: A kaleidoscope of river pollution incidents

In August, news that a tributary of a Somerset river had turned a bright shade of blue received widespread media coverage and prompted an Environment Agency investigation into the cause. Last month, the regulator revealed that its probe had found that a water-based ink had caused the river Frome to change colour, but said it would not disclose the source of the ink as the case was still active. No fish or wildlife had died, it said.
