Tens of millions of pounds of financial penalties have been issued by UK regulators in response to environmental crimes, with payouts getting ever-larger.

1 Thames Water: £20,361,140

In March 2017, Thames Water was fined a record £20m for “systemic” management failures that polluted the Thames and surrounding areas with millions of tonnes of raw sewage. The company pleaded guilty to six offences in the middle and lower Thames Valley between 2012 and 2014. READ MORE
