UK wildlife in crisis: 10 things you need to know

For the first time, 70 wildlife organisations have joined forces with government agencies to present the clearest picture of the status of terrestrial and marine species in the UK.

While the environment secretary, Theresa Villiers, welcomed the report and praised her government's 25-Year Environment Plan, the Natural England chair, Tony Juniper said more needed to be done to achieve the government's ambitions.

Here are the main findings of the State of Nature Report 2019, which assessed the condition of the country’s wildlife from 1970 to 2016.
