EA officers assaulted while inspecting site

A man has pleaded guilty to assaulting two Environment Agency officers when they attended a concrete business in West Yorkshire in April.

The two officers visited the Hunter Concrete Products site in Dewsbury to ensure that waste that had been delivered in breach of environmental permit conditions had been cleared. While doing so, Sam Hunter, aged 27, verbally threatened and physically assaulted them.

Hunter was brought before Kirklees magistrates court by the Crown Prosecution Service on Friday. He was ordered to undertake a 21-day ‘thinking skills and rehabilitation programme’, on top of 80 hours’ unpaid work. He was also required to pay a victim surcharge of £85, costs of £85 and £50 compensation to both victims.
