Council calls for controversial waste project to be scrapped

Milford Haven Port Authority should drop its plans to build a waste transfer station for refuse derived fuel (RDF) at Pembroke Dock, according to its town council.

The project is controversial due to issues allegedly arising from a similar RDF export operation at the dock, said to have led to odour complaints and an infestation of flies at a nearby hospital.

Natural Resources Wales (NRW) served an enforcement notice against Sundorne Products (Llanidloes) Ltd, part of the Potter Group, in 2016 and partially suspended its permit the following year. But the firm was found not guilty of a series of environmental offences when prosecuted earlier this month, after the regulator opted to hold back evidence.
