No UK party manifesto commits to green non-regression after Brexit, experts warn

All of the UK-wide parties have left “unanswered questions” about the direction of travel for environmental standards in their manifestos, according to the research group Brexit & Environment.

“None of the manifestos… offers much details across the three topical areas of EU-UK environmental relations, and some do not even offer a broad vision,” said Andy Jordan, professor of environmental policy at the University of East Anglia, in a new blog post. 

Professor Jordan’s analysis, which excludes the manifestos of parties only standing in the devolved nations, highlights a lack of detail from Labour and the Conservatives on how closely the UK would track EU green standards if Brexit goes ahead.
