Johnson must challenge Trump’s ‘reckless approach’ to climate change, researchers say

A group of 350 climate change researchers have called on prime minister Boris Johnson to “challenge robustly” US president Donald Trump about his “reckless approach” to the issue when he visits the UK next week.

The researchers, whose expertise ranges from economics to engineering to climate science, say that Trump “has ignored the warnings about climate change from scientists and national security experts” and “hidden the truth from the American people” by removing information about the issue from federal websites. 

They point to the ways that the US government has attempted to undermine the Paris Agreement, “making the world a more dangerous place and threatening the prosperity and safety of current and future generations”.
