England’s brownfield sites could support 1m new homes, finds housing body

Around 18,000 brownfield sites covering 25,500 hectares in England could be developed to support one million new homes, according to a study by a housing body.

The National Housing Federation collated councils’ registers of brownfield land - a mandatory requirement under regulation 3 of the Town and Country Planning (Brownfield Land Register) Regulations since 2017 - and mapped them.
