Repsol, a company that operates an offshore oil and gas installation called Bleo Holm, did not receive €2m in free ETS allowances for 2018 as a result of a decision to suspend the free allocation of allowances to UK companies made by the European Commission, which feared that the UK’s departure from the EU would lead to a glut of free allowances on the market.
