New EU environmental standards for food, drink and milk industries

New standards to reduce the environmental impact of the food, drink and milk industries have been set following a review of the sectors’ Best Available Techniques (BAT) Reference Document (BREF).

Published in the Official Journal of the EU yesterday, the new BAT conclusions, which aim to reduce emissions to water and air, and increase resource efficiency, provide the technical basis on which national authorities set permit conditions for industrial installations falling under the scope of the Industrial Emissions Directive.
