Government advisers launch call for evidence on sixth carbon budget

The independent Committee on Climate Change (CCC) has launched a call for evidence to inform its advice to the government on the sixth carbon budget, which is due to be published in September 2020.

The budget, which is required under the Climate Change Act, will provide ministers with the committee’s recommendation on the level of greenhouse gases the UK can emit during the period 2033-2037.

It will set out a pathway to meeting the UK’s net-zero emissions target in 2050, which the government committed to in the summer.
