Ex council officer convicted of falsifying air quality data

A former council officer has been given a suspended prison sentence after being convicted of two counts of fraud for making false air quality readings while being employed by a local authority in Surrey.

Ann-Marie Wade of Durrington in Wiltshire falsified air quality data in Waverley Borough Council’s 2016 air quality report, which was published in May 2017.

She was charged with three counts under section 1 of the Fraud Act 2006. Wade pleaded guilty to twice claiming that false air quality readings were genuine, but denied the third charge alleging that she made false claims for mileage payments related to replacing diffusion tubes.
