‘World’s first’ net-zero neighbourhood to be built

The first housing scheme to meet the UK Green Building Council’s definition of net-zero carbon has secured planning permission.

The body adopted the definition in April last year, setting out requirements for two approaches to carbon emissions, associated with building work and habitation. Parc Hadau, located in Rhyd-y-fro, near Swansea, will meet the definition for operational emissions, which is described as:
