Men convicted for illegal tyre dump that 'put lives at risk'

Two men and a company they ran have been convicted of dangerously hoarding hundreds of tonnes of waste tyres, more than 15 times the amount their permit allowed.

Andrew Eyre, from Northampton, was handed a 12 month suspended prison sentence, while fellow joint- director of waste firm IN4 Ltd John Mullen from Milton Keynes was sentenced to a six month community order.

A second firm, Synergy tyres, was also ordered to pay a fine of £11,250 during sentencing at Northampton Crown Court on Friday.

At the hearing, the court heard the pair’s actions could have seriously polluted the environment and risked people’s homes, health and lives.
