IEMA appoints new chief executive

Former BBC environment correspondent Sarah Mukherjee is to take the helm at the Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment (IEMA) in the summer.

Chief executive of pesticides lobby group the Crop Protection Association since 2017, she was formerly director of environment at water industry association Water UK –  demonstrating “a dynamic track record of leading and developing effective strategy, policy and communications,” said a statement from IEMA.

Her new position, which she will take up in June, became vacant in November when Tim Balcon stepped down to look after his sick wife.
