New ozone depleter and F-gas Brexit guidance emphasises continuity

Guidance on the trade in fluorinated greenhouses gases (F-gas) and ozone-depleting substances (ODS) during and after the Brexit transition period was published by DEFRA and the Environment Agency last week.

The first document, covering the 1 February to 31 December 2020 transition period, emphasises that effectively nothing has changed and that “you must continue to operate as you did before”. ODS and F-gas activities covering 2019 must be reported to the European Commission by 31 March. The same obligation will apply for this year, too, even though Brexit should be in full effect by the end of 2020.

Qualifications and other requirements for handling F-gas are also unaltered. UK qualifications are still recognised in the EU.
