Poland to return more illegal waste exports to UK

Poland has requested the UK take back 225 tonnes of illegally exported waste, the Environment Agency (EA) has confirmed.

The City Police of Elblag were quoted this week in media reports as saying “part of the illegal waste from Great Britain is already on the way back”.

However, the EA told ENDS  that it is “working with the Polish authorities to investigate the circumstances around these particular exports.

“In the event the waste does need to be returned to the UK, every step will be taken to ensure those responsible – not the taxpayer - foot the bill,” they added.
