EA seeks contractor for airborne carcinogen monitoring

The Environment Agency is seeking tenders for the operation of its polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) monitoring network.

The network provides data on the ambient concentrations of the substances, many of which have been identified as human carcinogens and also linked to cardiovascular disease. They are formed from the incomplete combustion of wood, oil, coal and other organic material.

“The contractor will be expected to deliver various work packages involving preparing sample filters, managing the field monitoring, maintaining agency sampling assets, reporting, sample submission and submission of ratified site data results to the UK Air website,” states the tender documentation.
