European Commision issues new guidance on waste shipments

In light of the “exceptional circumstances” triggered by the coronavirus outbreak, the European Commission has published a document for national authorities and waste companies aiming to reduce obstacles to the shipment of waste within the bloc. The EU executive is working with governments to keep “green lanes for waste open”, according to environment commissioner Virginijus Sinkevicius, “so that waste can be shipped without delay”.
