Coronavirus: Recycling centres close across the nation as UK enters lockdown

Councils across the nation have closed down Household Waste and Recycling Centres (HWRCs) in response to the government's announcement on Monday of an enforced lockdown in the fight against Covid-19.

Lee Marshall, chief executive of the Local Authority Recycling Advisory Committee (LARAC), told ENDS the vast majority had closed and that while little national guidance on waste had not been forthcoming, “local authorities have got emergency contingency plans they are all enacting”.
