Interaction of effluents caused yellow salmon disease

Salmon in the Scottish river Don turned yellow or red because of exposure to industrial effluents, according to a study of long-term pollution in the river. Following recent reductions in paper mill discharges, the fish have now recovered - but oil pollution remains a major problem for the North East River Purification Board (NERPB).
