Creosote industry, coal burning dominate UK budget for PAHs

A study of polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) has found that creosote and domestic coal burning are probably the UK's major sources of these carcinogenic pollutants. The amount of PAHs in UK soils is still increasing despite a decline in deposition from the air in recent years.
