Paper companies wary about novel sludge processing technique

A continuous "airless" drying process could save 90% of the energy costs and emissions associated with traditional drying techniques, according to its developers, Heat-Win. But paper companies which have been asked to test the technology on sludge waste from deinking plants and identify markets for the dried sludge are proving reluctant to chip in development funds.
