EXCLUSIVE: EA’s new river monitoring plans will ‘decimate’ sampling network

Environment Agency (EA) plans to overhaul its river quality monitoring regime by introducing a new system that monitors water quality at randomly selected sites have been branded a “load of rubbish” by staff working at the regulator who fear that the strategy will “decimate” existing sampling capacity.
