Plan to issue enforcement guidance to green watchdog sparks alarm
Government amendments to the Environment Bill that would give the secretary of state powers to issue guidance to the post-Brexit green watchdog on its enforcement policy could provide a “get out of jail free card” to allow ministers to direct the watchdog away from inconvenient cases, green groups have warned.
