Boris Johnson’s pledge to raise the area protected for wildlife from 26% to 30% of UK land by 2030 raised a few eyebrows when set against with NGO estimates of what is protected in reality, and the government’s latest data on biodiversity protection, which revealed that over half of progress indicators were in decline.
