Broadcaster Chris Packham raised £140,665 from the public for a legal challenge against the HS2 rail link, which argued – unsuccessfully – that ministers had failed to take account of the project's effect on greenhouse gas emissions. The case was one of a growing number of climate-related legal challenges, spurred on by crowdfunding campaigns
