Nitrates regulations alone could ‘backfire’ and damage ecosystems, claim scientists

Without a Europe-wide phosphate directive to sit alongside the nitrates directive, policymakers could be inadvertently killing the threatened plant species they are trying to protect, an international team of researchers has concluded.
