Where is the UK’s emissions trading scheme?
On 1 June the UK’s four administrations agreed to implement a UK Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS). Ideally linked to the EU ETS but showing “greater ambition from the start”, it would be aligned with a net zero trajectory. “Thanks to the opportunities arising as we exit the transition period, we are now able to go even further, faster,” said energy minister Kwasi Kwarteng, who promised a “smooth transition for businesses”.
