Bill to improve safeguards against marine pollution

The Government is supporting a Private Member's Bill which will enhance the protection of the UK coast against oil pollution from ships.1 But to date it has opposed Labour moves to enable charities to be repaid for the costs of pollution control and wildlife rescue operations in cases where a polluter cannot be identified.
